Our Story
Urumqi® was founded in 2009 by a team of entrepreneurs passionate about eyewear. Located in the city of Urumqi in China, we began as a small startup focused on designing fashionable yet functional sunglasses and night driving glasses.
As we grew, we continued expanding our catalog to offer blue light blocking glasses, bifocals, progressive lenses, and fitover sunglasses. Our fitover sunglasses line quickly became one of our most popular products because they allowed people to wear their regular prescription eyeglasses underneath while also getting protection from the sun’s glare.

Our Manufacturing Process
Urumqi® manages our own manufacturing facility in Urumqi rather than outsourcing production. This allows us to closely supervise quality and craftsmanship. Our manufacturing process includes:

- Lens Technology – We utilize advanced machines for lens grinding, milling, polishing, and applying specialty coatings such as anti-reflective layers. Our expertise results in crisp, distortion-free lenses.
- Frame Assembly – Skilled technicians hand assemble each frame, inserting lenses and adjusting hinges for smooth operation. We meticulously inspect for defects before products ship out.
